Textile Upcycling: Te Hanga Poi with Audrey Rapihana

  • Parnell Community Centre 545 Parnell Road Auckland, Auckland, 1052 New Zealand (map)

Join us for an interactive workshop where you’ll learn the art of Te Hanga Poi – "Te Hanga" meaning "to make" and "Poi" referring to the traditional Māori dance prop. In this creative, sustainable workshop, you’ll transform everyday waste materials like shredded clothing rags, and recycled plastic bags, into unique poi for dance or decor.

Led by Kaiako (teacher) Audrey Rapihana, this hands-on experience lets you explore sustainability through crafting, giving new life to materials that would otherwise go to waste. Whether you're looking to dance with your new creations or simply enjoy a fun, eco-friendly activity, Te Hanga Poi is all about creativity, sustainability, and tradition.

Make your poi. Make a difference.

  • Saturday 8 March

  • 9.30-11.30am

  • $5 per person to attend
