NEW! Urban Ink Recipes Workshop

$140.00

Discover the wild world of unusual materials making unusual marks at Parnell Community Centre's NEW Saturday intensive Art workshop!

Join artist Sybille on our four‑hour intensive Saturday workshop: Urban ink recipes. Spend a peaceful Saturday uncovering nature’s hidden colours, enjoy a four‑hour workshop offering a serene, zen‑like space for slow, hands‑on exploration that gently feeds the soul.

In this 1-day workshop, we will start the day to train our maker's eye while walking the Domain on the lookout for potential ink-making-materials. We talk about rules for foraging in an urban, shared environment, and discuss suitable materials that can be gathered in different seasons.

While we don’t have the time to cook our inks at the workshop, we will go through the procedure for some inks, for example, walnut, acorn cap, copper oxide, using supplied materials and tools for a hands-on experience.

Pre-made, finished inks are available on the day, so you don’t miss out on the experience of using handmade inks: colours depend on seasonal availability.

Books on the subject are made available on the day from Auckland Library.

If you attended the previous 1-day brush-making workshop, make sure to bring your brushes!

Limited spaces available – all materials and protection gear are provided!

  • Saturday 18 July, 10.30am-3pm

  • 1× 4-hour workshop (with 30 min. lunch break)

  • Tutor: Sybille Schlumbom
