Our New Market: Maungawhau

After a few bumps in the road and a delayed opening, we were thrilled to finally welcome the community to the very first Maungawhau Market on Sunday 4 October.

While postponing the original launch wasn't the start we'd planned for, seeing the market come to life made the wait worthwhile. With beautiful spring weather, a fantastic group of stallholders, and plenty of visitors stopping by throughout the morning, the day couldn't have gone much better.

The market was filled with a great mix of local makers, growers, artists, and food vendors. Visitors enjoyed browsing handcrafted goods, picking up fresh produce, grabbing a coffee, and discovering some of the unique products on offer. More than anything, it was wonderful to see people taking the time to connect, chat, and enjoy being part of the local community.

From families exploring the stalls together to neighbours catching up over a coffee, there was a real sense of warmth and belonging throughout the day. That's exactly what the Maungawhau Market was created for - a place where people can come together, support local businesses, and enjoy everything our community has to offer.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Make Space from Fresh Concept, whose support played an important role in bringing the market to life. Without their collaboration and support our very incredible opening day and following successful Sundays wouldn’t have been possible.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without our wonderful stallholders, supporters, and everyone who came along to our opening market. Your patience, encouragement, and enthusiasm helped turn a challenging start into a fantastic first day.

We're excited for what's ahead and look forward to seeing the market grow in the months to come. We hope you'll join us again soon for another Sunday morning of shopping local, connecting with the community, and enjoying the atmosphere at the Maungawhau Market.
