Sewing & Repair Cafe

Do you have clothes or fabrics in need of a little love? Bring them along to our Sewing Repair Café during the Parnell Farmers’ Market, held in the Parnell Room! Held on the first Saturday of each month, this skilled team of refugee women from NFACT will be offering cost effective clothing repairs and simple alterations. Observe and learn, watch the sustainable repair happen, everyone is welcome.

New Settlers Family and Community Trust (NFACT) provides flexible, culturally and linguistically appropriate services for refugees and people from refugee-like backgrounds. When coming to a new country, refugees and people from refugee-like backgrounds face many challenges, including language, employment, social normality, education and economic issues, as well as the normal stressors of everyday life. NFACT’s vision is to help new settlers and their families thrive within their communities and wider society through a range of targeted community-based services and initiatives.

When: 9:30am – 11:30am, first Saturday of every month
Cost: Koha for your repair ($5+ recommended, or what is quoted)
What to bring: Any garments or fabrics needing repair or small alterations
